A year back ‘stress’ was just a common word often used by everybody as the default explanation for a wide range of human conditions or when anything out of ordinary would happen or something even slightly overwhelming. Since the time I co-founded Silver Oak Health, I have not only gotten to know what stress means, but also learnt skills to cope with it.
Stress is a part of our lives and there’s no getting around it. But as much as we all live with it, many of us misunderstand some of the basics about stress and its role in our lives. I am personally very excited to launch Stress Control Online, an evidence-based online intervention program to help understand & manage stress, improve physical & mental health and finally boost well-being, thus improving quality of life.
For the past 10 months, I have been spearheading the product development – Stress Control Online. It has been an exciting journey and a huge learning for me personally working with our author Dr. Jim White, an internationally-recognized expert in CBT and stress management and is the creator of Stress Control. The most interesting part of this journey was to convert the existing stress control class-room module to digital and ensuring it is adapted to the Indian population. I have been fortunate to find and work with some of the best folks in the industry both on product development and psychological services.
Stress Control Online is an eight-session program, taken over 8 weeks. Each session will introduce you to new skills that combine to produce a powerful weapon you can use to fight back against stress. Our program is aided by a trained therapist to ensure the program can be very effective in ensuring completion and recovery in most cases.
The first session helps you to understand and recognize stress. The next six sessions outline specific skills you can use to control stress and the last session pulls everything you have learned together to let you control your future. Overall this program’s goal is to empower you with stress control skills. An important part of Stress Control Online is to “turn you into your own therapist” so that, in the future, you will feel confident in your ability to cope with whatever life throws at you.
Stress Control Online is designed to be engaging, informative and interactive, to be used for those with existing difficulties or as an early intervention or prevention. We also have kept factors such as social stigma, convenience and affordable as some of the key elements which will benefit our users. All the sessions will provide the users with trusted and hands-on techniques to overcome stress-related issues. Stress is part and parcel of life and having these skills at your disposal means you can face the future with greater confidence when life, inevitably, gets hard to cope with from time to time.
